Afternoon "Summer Fun in the Afternoon"
Read Aloud: Our teachers read out loud to campers from a selection of books designed to expand their minds and take them to exotic lands.
Karate Classes: Classes will be held at the International Shotokan Karate Federation on 5th Street, a fully-accredited traditional martial arts dojo, teaching Shotokan karate to children for over 35 years.
Dramatic Arts Classes: An exciting acting workshop focusing on the joys of creativity, self-expression and imagination. Focus is on having a fun time as members learn theatre skills that help them not only be dynamite on stage, but also excel in communication, self-confidence, leadership and teamwork. The workshop is directed by theatre artists from the internationally acclaimed Santa Monica Playhouse, now celebrating its 50th anniversary of continuous theatrical and educational services to the community.
Dance Classes: Dance instruction in our multi-purpose room with a variety of styles.
Art in the Outdoors: Campers will take their paper, pencils and paintbrushes and head out to our playground where easels will be set up for them to draw and explore their creative side.
Chess Club: Our older campers (Grades 2-6) will get a chance to sharpen their chess skills or learn how to play for the first time.
Playground and Outdoor Water Fun: For our younger campers (Kindergarten – 1st Grade), there is outdoor water play in our playground wading pool with water balloons, fun outdoor games, bubbles and more.
In addition to the above classes and activities, there are numerous projects the campers will do throughout the summer. Just some examples of these are: building LEGO models, chemistry and science experiments, jewelry making, beadwork, sand art, and building a solar-powered car.
